Is there a reason you do not include the Bart Board, District 7?
As a BART rider I have been following this race.
Dana Lang has a tremendous background with transit--she knows how to solve problems and where to find the funding without taking it from taxpayers.
Victor Flores is young and ambitious but he has no experience with transit that I can find. He might be a good candidate in the future but needs to build a track record in my opinion.
OMG you're right! I thought I had included it and I agree with you about Lang. Damn I usually use the local voter guide to remind me who to include but since I never got it, it slipped between the cracks. I'll fix that, thsnks
Frist - let's be clear - both recalls should be rejected....but
[ Sigh - putting the recall elections at the very bottom of this stack (yes yes - all about recommendations but those are elections of candidates but the recalls are just big money undoing an election with distortion and propaganda - all bad. Maybe a link at the top to get to the 'bottom' might help. ]
Both recalls were initiated prior to either person being in office for an effective time - that alone should tell one that these are simply big money trying to step in and undo an election - quite undemocratic.
Then the Chronicle endorses the recalls - citing wrong information and distortions. They write about 'crime' being up when its actually down. They don't recognize (as done well here several times - ty) that Libby left Mayor Thao a city in turmoil and never (Libby that is) really dealt with the structural problems of Oakland. Bad form that. The paper even has the gall to complain about crime when Thao has actually worked and accomplished a reduction. Even worse - their "big" complaint" is about the missed application for a grant for the police - when they point out that both the police department and city council were in on that application
Oh - one more thing - about that "blank" response from Thao on the ballot. For whatever reason, I would offer that any argument put forward is like trying to answer the [paraphrased] comedic one-liner: 'Have you stopped making Oakland worse.'
As for Price - well the Chron always seemed eager to publish criticisms of her that had no foundation or erroneous information.

Both recalls should be soundly rejected.
I took your suggestion and added a notice to the top. Thanks for reading.
